In a large bowl, combine the warm milk, yeast, and sugar. Let stand for 5 minutes, until the yeast is foamy.

Stir in the egg, vegetable oil, vanilla extract, and salt. Gradually add the flour, mixing until a dough forms

Turn the dough out onto a lightly floured surface and knead for 5-7 minutes, until smooth and elastic.
Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover with plastic wrap, and let rise in a warm place for 1 hour, or until doubled in size.
While the dough is rising, prepare the apple filling. In a medium bowl, combine the brown sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, and chopped walnuts together in a bowl. Wash, peel, core, and dice the apples.

Once the dough has risen, punch it down and roll it out into a 14 x 20 inch rectangle and brush with the melted butter.

Spread the cinnamon sugar and walnut mixture evenly over the dough. Spread the diced apple filling evenly over the dough.
Starting from the long side, roll the dough up tightly, and the roll into 12 equal pieces.
Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F, and prepare a 9 x 13 inch baking pan or casserole dish with shortening, butter, or non stick baking spray.
Place the rolls in the prepared 9 x 13 inch baking pan, cover with plastic wrap, and let double in size.
Bake the rolls for 25-30 minutes, or until golden brown. Let the rolls cool slightly before glazing.
